A skimmer is a long-handled kitchen tool with a wide, perforated head used to lift solid pieces out of liquid. It is used to remove boiled dough foods and vegetables from water or to skim foam. Unlike a strainer, it is spoon-shaped and used with one hand.

Where It’s Used

“Lift the mantı (Turkish dumplings) out of the boiling water with a skimmer and let them drain.”
