Step Into the Kitchen with Confidence
Learn essential kitchen skills step by step, practice the techniques and build confidence as you cook.
Where should you start in the kitchen?
Good cooking starts with knowing the technique before the recipe. A recipe tells you to "sauté the onion"; this guide teaches you what sautéing is, why the pan needs to be preheated and how to tell when the onion is ready. Once the technique sinks in, no recipe will intimidate you.
How does this section work?
Topics are split into three levels: Beginner → Intermediate → Advanced . Each topic wraps up with a short video, a step-by-step walkthrough and tested recipes you can try yourself. Follow the suggested path and you’ll have built your kitchen foundations in 37 lessons; there’s no rush — every lesson also stands on its own.
What should you have on hand?
A large chef’s knife, a cutting board and a heavy-bottomed pot are more than enough for the first week. If you don’t have measuring cups, start with the cup and spoon charts on the Measurement Units page; look up any terms that trip you up in the Glossary.
