Wax Sealing (Beeswax)

wax sealing

Wax sealing is done by pouring melted beeswax over jam or preserves to form an airtight layer. This layer limits contact with air but does not reliably keep out mold, so it is no longer recommended for storing jam. It is a method used in traditional jar preservation.

Where It’s Used

“Pour melted beeswax over the jam to form a thin sealing layer.”
