A serving (about 150 g) of plain grilled shrimp contains around 140 calories on average. Shrimp is among the lower-calorie seafood choices because it is low in fat. Most of its calories come from protein, making it a low-calorie, filling option.

How Does Sautéing in Butter Increase Calories? Shrimp sautéed in plenty of butter may contain 100–150 more calories per serving than grilled shrimp. Butter adds flavor and calories. Lightly sautéing shrimp in garlic and olive oil is a more moderate option; even one 15 ml measure of olive oil may bring the serving close to 250 calories.

How Does Shrimp Compare with Other Seafood? Shrimp has fewer calories than fatty fish such as salmon because it has less omega-3 fat and less overall fat. Its calorie range is similar to that of white fish such as sea bass and sea bream. Mussels and squid are also relatively low in calories; cooking method, especially frying, usually accounts for much of the difference.

What Sauces Are Served with Shrimp? Garlic-yogurt or lemon sauce adds relatively few calories, while creamy, mayonnaise-based cocktail sauces add more. Fried shrimp, especially breaded shrimp, may have two to three times the calories of grilled shrimp per serving; most of the difference comes from the breadcrumbs and frying oil. Adding shrimp to salad or pasta increases the meal's protein, while the added calories may remain moderate because shrimp itself is relatively low in calories.

How Do Shrimp's Protein and Cholesterol Compare? A serving of shrimp contains about 25 g of protein. It also has somewhat more cholesterol than some other seafood, although cholesterol does not affect its calorie count. Cholesterol and calories are two separate measures; a food with more cholesterol is not automatically high in calories.

Is Frozen Shrimp Different from Fresh Shrimp? Frozen shrimp has nearly the same calorie content as fresh shrimp. Water loss during thawing is too small to measure. Packages of precooked frozen shrimp may contain slightly more water than raw frozen shrimp, which can make the cooked weight differ somewhat.

How Does Shrimp Size Affect Serving Estimates? Small and jumbo shrimp differ substantially in calories per piece, so estimating by weight rather than by count is more reliable. Restaurant portions of large shrimp may contain more total calories than home portions because the shrimp weigh more, even when the number of pieces is similar.

Tereyağlı yerine ızgara karides yapmaya başladım ve kalorisinin ne kadar düştüğünü fark edince şaşırdım, üzerine biraz limon sıkınca lezzetten hiç ödün vermeden çok daha hafif bir öğün oldu.
