Aloe vera is a popular houseplant that is also widely used in cosmetics. A busy schedule, time away from home, or forgotten watering can cause the plant to wilt and weaken. Before throwing it out, a simple revival mixture made with household ingredients is described below. This guide covers the ingredients, how to prepare the mixture, and points to keep in mind when applying it.

Why Does Aloe Vera Wilt?
Although aloe vera is naturally adapted to dry conditions, long periods without care or irregular watering can weaken its roots. Thin, faded, or drooping leaves are considered signs that the plant is not getting enough of the nutrients it needs. These signs may be more noticeable in aloe vera plants left unwatered for weeks because of travel or a busy work schedule. Supporting the soil may help the plant recover before it is lost completely.

Ingredients for the Revival Mixture
The ingredients are simple and commonly found at home: 1 aspirin, 1–2 tablespoons of dry yeast, and 1–2 liters of water. Adjust the amounts according to the number of plants, while keeping the mixture from becoming too concentrated. Aspirin is one ingredient thought to help support the roots in the soil; dry yeast may contribute to the plant's recovery. Fresh ingredients that have not absorbed moisture may help the mixture work better.

How Do You Prepare the Mixture?
First, crush the aspirin into a powder using the back of a spoon or a mortar and pestle. Add the dry yeast and mix thoroughly. Then add the water and continue stirring until the mixture is uniform. Pour it directly onto the soil; it does not need to touch the leaves. Adjust the amount to the size of the pot and avoid waterlogging the soil.

What Should You Do After Applying It?
Aloe vera does not need frequent watering, so do not water again for about 15 days after pouring the mixture onto the soil. Watering too soon may cause excess moisture around the roots and lead to rot. After 15 days, check the soil moisture and gradually return to the usual watering schedule. During recovery, keep the plant in a bright place away from direct sunlight.

Can You Use It for Other Potted Plants?
This mixture can also be used for other houseplants, especially those that are starting to wilt or having trouble recovering, and may have a similar revitalizing effect. Since each plant has different water needs, adjust the amount to the plant. Rather than making the mixture part of a regular care routine, use it only when needed, such as after a plant has gone without water for a long time. Regular watering and suitable light conditions can reduce the need for emergency measures.
