Pumpkin can be used in soup, fritters, cookies, cakes and desserts. Since variety and water content affect the result, follow the quantities and cooking steps in the recipe you use.

How Is Pumpkin Soup Prepared?
Pumpkin can be cooked with onion and garlic until soft, puréed and combined with cream. Add the amount of liquid required by the recipe; loosen the consistency with vegetable or chicken stock if needed. Before blending a hot mixture, check the manufacturer's instructions to confirm that the appliance and container are suitable; do not put hot liquid in a sealed personal blender cup. Follow filling, temperature and lid instructions. Do not assume waiting a few minutes is sufficient.

How Are Pumpkin Fritters Made?
A mixture of grated pumpkin, flour, egg and spices can be cooked in a pan or oven. Do not assume pumpkin always releases more water than summer squash. If excess liquid collects after grating, drain as needed for the recipe. Cook the center as well as browning the outside; do not taste uncooked batter containing egg and flour.

Using Pumpkin in Cookies and Cakes
Pumpkin purée adds moisture and flavor to batter. A watery purée can change the consistency; follow the recipe's intended purée texture and amount. Cinnamon, ginger, optional nutmeg or coconut, chocolate chips, walnuts or hazelnuts offer different flavors. These are options selected according to taste.

How Can Pumpkin Jam Be Used?
Jam made with pumpkin and sugar can accompany pancakes or be used in baking. Hot-filling and inverting a jar is not a safe canning process. No validated canning recipe suitable for room-temperature storage is provided here. Refrigerate the prepared product promptly or freeze it; do not home-can pumpkin purées or spreads. Keeping time depends on the recipe; there is no guarantee it can stay on the counter throughout winter.

What Matters When Making Turkish Pumpkin Dessert?
Slices of similar thickness make cooking easier. Adjust sugar and liquid according to the recipe; serve with walnuts or tahini if desired. Do not leave the cooked product to rest at room temperature for long periods. Divide leftovers into shallow containers and refrigerate within two hours, or one hour when the temperature is above 32 °C / 90 °F; store at or below 4 °C / 40 °F.
