Activate the Yeast
8 minMix the warm milk, yeast, and a pinch of sugar. Let stand for 8 minutes, until foamy.
This soft bread is made with yeasted dough rolled around a cinnamon and walnut filling. It is easy to prepare, makes a classic tea-time treat, and can be sliced and frozen.
Mix the warm milk, yeast, and a pinch of sugar. Let stand for 8 minutes, until foamy.
Add the flour, egg, remaining sugar, salt, and butter. Knead until the dough is elastic.
Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for 20 minutes.
Roll the dough into a rectangle. Sprinkle with the finely chopped walnuts and cinnamon, then roll it up. Slice the roll and arrange the pieces in a pan.
Bake in a preheated 180°C / 355°F oven for 20 minutes, until golden on top.
If you roll the dough too thin, it may tear when rolled up; leave it moderately thick. Freeze the slices after they reach room temperature. Contains wheat (gluten), dairy, egg, and tree nuts (walnuts).
