This bread is made with cornmeal, yogurt and kashar cheese, a Turkish semi-hard cheese. Baked in a pan, it has a crisp outside and a very soft center. Enjoy it with soup or on its own at tea time.
Whisk the yogurt, egg and vegetable oil in one bowl. In a separate bowl, mix the cornmeal, all-purpose flour, baking powder and salt.
Add the dry mixture to the wet mixture and stir gently until smooth. Fold most of the grated kashar cheese into the batter.
Pour the batter into a greased rectangular pan and sprinkle the remaining kashar cheese on top.
Bake in an oven preheated to 190°C / 375°F until the top is golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Important: Overmixing can make the bread tough. Stir the ingredients only until they are just combined. Allergens: contains wheat flour (gluten), egg and dairy.
