A classic British snack, these sesame cheese straws combine buttery dough with kashar cheese, cut into thin sticks and baked. This reduced-fat version offers a low-calorie option between meals.

Step by Step

How to make it?

1

Make the dough

12 min

Rub the cold butter into the flour until sandy in texture. Add the grated kashar cheese and work into a smooth dough.

2

Cut into straws

8 min

Roll out the dough and cut into thin sticks of even thickness. Brush with egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds.

3

Bake

20 min

Bake in an oven preheated to 180°C / 355°F for 20 minutes, until the edges darken.

Reminder

Cut the straws to an even thickness; thick pieces will stay soft inside. Do not take them out too early: they need to darken at the edges to become crisp. Allergens: contains gluten (flour), milk and dairy products (butter and kashar cheese), egg and sesame.
