For a balanced suhoor, combine protein foods, grains, vegetables, and fruit. No individual food guarantees that you will feel full or free from thirst all day; drinking enough water between iftar and suhoor also matters.
Protein foods: eggs and yogurt. Eggs, yogurt, and milk are options for suhoor. You can cook eggs with a little oil and limit salty processed foods such as pastırma and sucuk. Yogurt and milk contribute to fluid intake but do not completely replace water.
Milk and cinnamon. Add a pinch of cinnamon to milk for flavor. Balancing blood sugar, prolonged fullness, and preventing bad breath are not established benefits of cinnamon.
Oats and buckwheat. Prepare oats with milk, fruit, or nuts suitable for you; use buckwheat as a pilaf or breakfast grain. With celiac disease, choose products labeled gluten-free and prevent gluten cross-contact during preparation. Discuss adding oats to your diet with your doctor or dietitian.
Vegetables, legumes, and fruit. Cucumber, salad, cooked chickpeas, and unsalted almonds can add variety; choose according to your allergies. Fresh fruit is an option when you want something sweet. Eating a washed apple with its skin contributes fiber. Adjust portions to your individual needs.
