Inspired by Iraq's love of quince, this recipe fills halved quinces with date syrup, cinnamon and cloves, then cooks them in an air fryer until soft. Made without nuts or refined sweeteners, this dessert is a heart-friendly option thanks to the fiber in the quince.
Wash the quinces thoroughly and cut them in half. Use a spoon to scoop out the cores.
Mix the date syrup with the cinnamon, cloves, lemon juice and water, then pour it into the hollows in the quinces.
Arrange the quinces in the air-fryer basket and cook at 160°C / 320°F for 25 minutes. If you do not have an air fryer, cook them for the same time in an oven preheated to 160°C / 320°F.
Remove the quinces from the air fryer and leave to rest for 10 minutes; the syrup will thicken as they stand.
Do not scoop out the cores too deeply, or the syrup will spill out during cooking.
