Sweetened with date paste instead of refined sweeteners, these cookies bring the distinctive aroma of anise to breakfast or teatime. They are firm enough to pack easily in a lunchbox, too.

Step by Step

How to make it?

1

Prepare the dates

5 min

Briefly soak the dates in hot water, then blend into a smooth paste.

2

Make the dough

8 min

Beat the room-temperature butter with the egg and date paste. Add the flour, baking powder, salt and anise to form a soft dough.

3

Shape and bake

12 min

Pinch off small pieces of dough and shape into flat cookies. Bake in an oven preheated to 180°C / 355°F for 12 minutes, until the edges are lightly colored.

4

Cool

5 min

Cool the cookies on a wire rack for 5 minutes.

Reminder

Blend the date paste until completely smooth, or pieces will remain in the dough and the cookies will bake unevenly. Do not move the cookies until they have cooled for at least 10 minutes after baking, as they may crumble. Allergens: contains wheat (gluten) and eggs.
