Arepa de queso is a hearty Colombian street food made by mixing grated cheese into corn flour dough, shaping it into a thick disk, and cooking it. It has a crisp exterior and a generously cheesy center.

Step by Step

How to make it?

1

Knead the Dough

10 min

Knead the corn flour with warm salted water to make a smooth dough. Add the grated cheese and mix well.

2

Rest the Dough

15 min

Cover the dough with plastic wrap and let it rest for 15 minutes so the edges will not crack.

3

Shape the Arepas

5 min

Divide the dough into four pieces and flatten each into a disk 2 centimeters thick.

4

Cook

24 min

Heat the oil in a skillet. Cook the arepas over low heat for 12 minutes per side, until golden and the cheese inside has melted.

Reminder

If you shape the dough before resting it, the edges may crack during cooking; do not skip the 15-minute rest. Allergen: contains milk and dairy products.

Bol mozzarellalı iç harcı gerçekten ağzına kadar doluydu, kahvaltıda tek başına doyurucu bir öğün oldu.
