Brown the beef
10 minHeat the cooking oil in a skillet, add the cubed beef, and sauté until it releases and then absorbs its juices.
A hearty, hot version of barbunya pilaki, a traditional Turkish bean dish, made by sautéing borlotti beans with cubed beef and simmering them in tomato sauce. Serve with rice pilaf or bulgur pilaf for a filling dinner.
Heat the cooking oil in a skillet, add the cubed beef, and sauté until it releases and then absorbs its juices.
Add the finely chopped onion to the beef and sauté for a few minutes. Stir in the tomato paste.
Add the grated tomato and cook over low heat until the beef is tender, adding a little water if needed.
Add the cooked borlotti beans to the pot, season with salt and black pepper, and simmer everything together until the sauce thickens.
Important: Soak the dried borlotti beans, then boil them in their soaking water until tender before adding them to the skillet. Raw beans can remain firm even after a long cook with the meat. This recipe contains no allergens.
