Bread milk pudding is a classic Turkish way to reduce food waste. Stale bread slices are softened in milk, quickly cooked in a pressure cooker, garnished with cinnamon, and served cold. This recipe makes good use of bread instead of throwing it away and is ideal for anyone looking for an affordable, convenient dessert.

Step by Step

How to make it?

1

Soak the bread

10 min

Remove the crusts from the stale bread and tear it into small pieces. Put it in a bowl and soak it with one 200 ml measure of milk.

2

Cook in the pressure cooker

15 min

Transfer the soaked bread to a pressure cooker with the remaining milk, sugar, and cornstarch. Lock the lid and cook for 15 minutes, then wait for the pressure to release naturally.

3

Blend until smooth

10 min

Open the lid and blend the mixture or mash it thoroughly with a whisk until smooth.

4

Pour into dishes and chill

20 min

Divide the pudding among shallow dishes and chill it quickly in the freezer for 20 minutes. Sprinkle with cinnamon and serve.

Reminder

Remove the crusts before soaking the bread; otherwise, the pudding may not become smooth and small pieces can remain. Do not chill it in the freezer for more than 20 minutes, or the edges may begin to freeze. Contains allergens: wheat (gluten) and milk/dairy.

Tarifte düdüklüde 15 dakika pişirmek yazıyor, ben tam o kadar tuttum ve kıvamı gerçekten pürüzsüz çıktı; dondurucuda 20 dakika yerine 25 dakika bekletince kenarları biraz fazla sertleşti, bir dahakine tam süresinde çıkaracağım.
