Loquats, known as pipa in Chinese cooking, are peeled and gently boiled with honey and lemon to make a refreshing dessert. Prepared with few ingredients, this compote is also suitable for a lunchbox.

Step by Step

How to make it?

1

Prepare the fruit

10 min

Peel and deseed the loquats, then mix with the lemon juice to prevent browning.

2

Boil

10 min

Bring the water to a boil in a saucepan. Add the honey and stir until dissolved. Add the loquats and simmer over low heat for 10 minutes.

3

Cool and serve

20 min

Remove the compote from the heat and leave for 20 minutes to reach room temperature. Then chill in the fridge and serve cold.

Reminder

Boiling the loquats for too long will make them mushy. Do not cook them for more than 10 minutes after the liquid starts boiling.
