Pastries and dough-based dishes
A Spanish street-food favorite, churros are made by piping plain dough into long sticks and frying them in hot oil. While still hot, they are coated in cinnamon sugar and enjoyed with coffee or hot chocolate.
Bring the water, salt, sugar, and cooking oil to a boil, then remove from the heat. Add the flour and stir until a smooth dough forms and pulls away from the bottom of the pot.
Transfer the cooled dough to a piping bag fitted with a star tip. Pipe 8–10 cm sticks into the hot oil and fry until golden.
Drain the fried churros on paper towels, then coat them in cinnamon sugar while still hot.
Important: Avoid trapping air when filling the piping bag, or the churros may break apart during frying. Allergens: Contains wheat (gluten).
