A favorite Korean street food, gilgeori toast is made by pan-frying a square egg mixture loaded with cabbage and carrots, then layering it between slices of sweetened toast with Kashar cheese and a sweet-savory sauce.

Step by Step

How to make it?

1

Prepare the Vegetable and Egg Mixture

8 min

Beat the eggs, then stir in the cabbage, carrot, scallions, and salt.

2

Cook the Square Patty

8 min

Melt 1 spoonful of butter in a skillet. Spread the mixture into a square slightly larger than a slice of sandwich bread, and cook, turning once, until set on both sides.

3

Toast the Bread

10 min

Sprinkle sugar on one side of each slice of sandwich bread. Toast the sugared sides in the skillet with the remaining butter until golden.

4

Assemble the Layers

4 min

Spread the ketchup and mayonnaise mixture on one slice of toast. Layer on the Kashar cheese and hot vegetable egg square, then top with the other slice.

Reminder

Keep the heat at medium while toasting the bread so the sugar does not burn. Allergen: contains wheat (gluten), eggs, and dairy (butter and Kashar cheese).
