Heat the milk

This classic German baby breakfast is a simple porridge made by whisking semolina into milk and cooking it for a few minutes until thick. No sweetener is added; semolina’s mild natural sweetness is enough. It is one of the first complementary foods for babies who have completed 6 months of age.
Heat the milk in a small pot until it is just about to boil. Watch it closely so it does not boil over.
Sprinkle the semolina into the hot milk, adding it gradually and stirring constantly to prevent lumps.
Cook over low heat for 5 minutes, stirring constantly, until thickened. Add a pinch of salt and remove from the heat.
Let the porridge cool until lukewarm before serving it to a baby; serving it hot could burn the baby’s mouth.
Always test the porridge temperature on the inside of your wrist before feeding it to a baby. Do not add honey as a sweetener for babies under 1 year old; it can cause botulism. Allergens: contains wheat (gluten, from the semolina) and milk.
