Inspired by Chinese street food, these skewers are made by marinating hard-boiled quail eggs in soy sauce and honey and grilling them until lightly charred. Grilling instead of frying means no extra oil is added.

Step by Step

How to make it?

1

Boil and peel the eggs

20 min

Boil the quail eggs for 5 minutes and cool them in cold water. Peel them one by one; this may take 20 minutes.

2

Prepare the marinade

10 min

Mix the soy sauce, honey, and sesame oil, then coat the peeled eggs in the mixture.

3

Marinate

30 min

Marinate the eggs in the refrigerator for 30 minutes so the flavors can infuse them.

4

Thread onto skewers

10 min

Thread four marinated eggs onto each wooden skewer.

5

Grill

15 min

Brush the skewers with the marinade and grill for 15 minutes, turning them until lightly charred. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and green onion to serve.

Reminder

To peel the quail eggs more easily, gently crack the shells first and soak them in cold water for a few minutes. Allergens: contains soy, sesame, and eggs. Additional allergen check: check the product label for gluten in the soy sauce, as ingredients may vary by product.
