These classic grilled Turkish meatballs are made with ground beef, onion, and spices. A favorite for backyard cookouts and indoor grilling, they are browned outside and juicy inside.

Step by Step

How to make it?

1

Mix the meatball mixture

10 min

Combine the ground beef, grated onion with its liquid squeezed out, soaked and squeezed bread, crushed garlic, cumin, red pepper flakes, baking soda, salt, and black pepper in a bowl. Knead for 10 minutes, until combined.

2

Rest and shape

30 min

Cover and refrigerate the mixture for 30 minutes. Then, with wet hands, shape it into flat oval patties.

3

Grill

15 min

Cook the patties on a charcoal grill or grill pan, turning them until browned on both sides and cooked through. Important: The internal temperature should reach 71°C / 160°F; the patties should not remain pink. Serve hot.

Reminder

Kneading the mixture well and letting it rest helps the meatballs hold together on the grill. Important: Cook ground meat patties thoroughly to an internal temperature of 71°C / 160°F. Contains no nuts. Serve hot.
