A hearty, quick home-style dish of Swiss chard sautéed in a skillet with ground meat and plenty of onion. It is an easy, economical choice for everyday meals.
Cook the ground meat in vegetable oil until it releases its liquid and it evaporates.
Add plenty of onion and sauté until softened.
Add the grated tomato and sauté for a few minutes.
Add the chopped Swiss chard, season with salt and black pepper, and cook over low heat until the chard softens and its liquid evaporates. Do not overcook it, or its texture and color may suffer.
Swiss chard leaves release quite a bit of liquid as they cook, so keep the pot partially uncovered to help it evaporate. Do not overcook the chard; prolonged cooking will dull its color and damage its texture.
