This dairy-free Mexican dessert classic is made by halving guavas and softening them in a pressure cooker with cinnamon and sugar in just a few minutes. Using a pressure cooker greatly shortens the long simmering time needed for firm guavas. Served cold, it is a simple but satisfying option for a light, refreshing dessert.

Step by Step

How to make it?

1

Make the Syrup

5 min

Mix the sugar, water, cinnamon, and cloves in the pressure cooker and bring to a boil.

2

Add the Guavas and Cook

8 min

Add the halved guavas to the syrup and close the lid. Cook for 8 minutes after the valve starts operating.

3

Release the Pressure

7 min

Remove the cooker from the heat and let it cool naturally for 7 minutes, until the valve stops making noise.

4

Chill and Serve

120 min

Chill the guavas in their syrup in the refrigerator for 2 hours before serving.

Reminder

Opening the pressure cooker before the pressure has released may cause the guavas to break apart. Be sure to wait until the valve stops making noise.

Düdüklü tencerede 8 dakikalık pişirme süresi guavalar için gerçekten biraz uzun gelmedi mi, daha küçük guavalar kullansam süreyi rahatlıkla 5 dakikaya kadar indirmem gerekir mi?
