A familiar sight at Jordanian breakfast tables, ka'ak bi halib is made from a milk dough scented with mahlab (ground cherry kernels), rolled into thin ropes, joined into rings and dipped in sesame seeds. This quick, yeast-free recipe can be made at the last minute for brunch.

Step by Step

How to make it?

1

Make the dough

10 min

Mix the flour, baking powder, mahlab, sugar and salt in a bowl. Add the milk and oil and knead until smooth.

2

Shape

5 min

Divide the dough into equal pieces and roll into thin ropes. Join the ends to form rings, then dip the rings in sesame seeds.

3

Bake

12 min

Bake in an oven preheated to 190°C / 375°F for 12 minutes, until the rings are golden.

Reminder

Do not roll the ropes of dough too thinly, or they will break easily in the oven. Allergens: contains wheat (gluten), milk and sesame.

Hamuru ince ip hâline getirmek dediğiniz kadar kolay olmadı, elimde sürekli kırıldı ve halkalar düzensiz çıktı. 190 derecede 12 dakika pişirdim ama bazıları çabuk kızarırken bazıları çiğ kaldı, fırın rafını değiştirmem gerekiyormuş.
