This rich Lebanese cream is made by slowly cooking milk and cornstarch, then flavoring it with rose water. Fresh fruit on top makes a light, refreshing dessert without nuts.

Step by Step

How to make it?

1

Mix the milk and cornstarch

5 min

Mix the cornstarch with a little cold milk to form a smooth slurry, then combine with the remaining milk in a saucepan.

2

Cook over low heat

15 min

Add the sugar and cook over low heat for 15 minutes, stirring constantly, until thickened.

3

Flavor with rose water

5 min

Remove from the heat and stir in the rose water. Divide among bowls, press plastic wrap onto the surface and refrigerate until cold.

4

Serve with fruit

5 min

Arrange sliced strawberries and cherries over the chilled cream and serve.

Reminder

After removing the cream from the heat, cool it with plastic wrap touching the surface to prevent a thick skin forming. Allergens: contains milk and dairy products.
