A Russian breakfast classic, this casserole is made by combining farmer cheese and grated carrot with semolina, then baking. Naturally sweetened by the carrots and soft in texture, it can be mashed and served to babies 10 months and older. The same dish also makes a hearty family breakfast.

Step by Step

How to make it?

1

Make the Mixture

15 min

Mash the farmer cheese with a fork in a bowl. Add the grated carrot, egg, semolina, melted butter, and vanilla; stir until smooth.

2

Transfer to the Pan

5 min

Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish and smooth the top with a spatula.

3

Bake

60 min

Bake in an oven preheated to 180°C / 355°F for 60 minutes, until lightly golden on top and set in the center.

4

Rest and Slice

10 min

Let the casserole rest in the pan for 10 minutes after baking, then slice and serve. For babies, mash it with a fork.

Reminder

Do not add honey or sugar for babies younger than 1 year; this recipe uses only carrots for sweetness. Allergen: Contains dairy, gluten (semolina), and eggs.
