This sweet and mildly spicy ice cream is made by adding mountain pepper, a spice native to Australia, to a cream base. Its heat is delayed: you will not notice it in the first bite, but it emerges a few seconds later. Made with just a few ingredients, it is an inexpensive dessert that makes an impression at the table.

Step by Step

How to make it?

1

Whip the cream

8 min

Whip the cold cream until stiff peaks form.

2

Fold in the remaining ingredients

5 min

Gently fold the condensed milk, mountain pepper, and vanilla into the whipped cream.

3

Freeze

360 min

Pour the mixture into a covered container, cover the surface, and freeze for at least 6 hours.

4

Serve

5 min

Remove the ice cream from the freezer 5 minutes before serving and let it soften, then divide it among bowls.

Reminder

Add the mountain pepper gradually and taste after each addition. Its heat develops with a delay, so you may not notice right away if you have added too much. Allergen: contains dairy (cream and condensed milk).
