Inspired by Canada's maple syrup tradition, this oatmeal is made by softening oats and apples in a pressure cooker, then sweetening them with syrup and cinnamon. It can be packed in a thermos for a convenient picnic breakfast.

Step by Step

How to make it?

1

Prepare the apple

10 min

Dice the apple.

2

Cook in the pressure cooker

10 min

Put the oats, diced apple, and milk in the pressure cooker and close the lid. Once it whistles, reduce the heat and cook for 10 minutes.

3

Let it rest

10 min

Turn off the heat and let the pressure cooker rest for 10 minutes without opening it.

4

Sweeten and serve

10 min

Stir the maple syrup and cinnamon into the oatmeal. Serve once it has cooled to warm.

Reminder

Make sure all the pressure has been released before opening the pressure cooker; otherwise, hot oatmeal may splatter as the lid opens. Allergen: contains dairy (milk). Additional allergen check: Check the oat product label for gluten; ingredients vary by product.
