Make the syrup
8 minBring the water, sugar, and cloves to a boil in a saucepan, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
A traditional Turkish dessert made by baking quince in clove syrup, cooling it, and serving it topped with walnuts. Its mildly tart flavor and tender texture make it a popular chilled dessert in winter.
Bring the water, sugar, and cloves to a boil in a saucepan, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
Place the cored quince in the syrup and simmer over low heat until tender.
Transfer the quince and syrup to a baking dish. Bake in a preheated oven until the tops are lightly browned.
Let the quince cool to room temperature, then chill it in the refrigerator. Place a walnut kernel in the hollow of each half and serve cold.
Important: Before baking the quince, simmer it in the syrup until thoroughly tender; otherwise, it may remain firm in the oven. Allergen: contains walnuts (tree nuts). It keeps for four days in a covered container in the refrigerator.
