Inspired by Peru’s ancient grain, quinoa, this smooth puree combines quinoa and pumpkin simmered until tender. It is designed as an unsweetened first taste for a baby’s first birthday and can be frozen in small silicone molds.

Step by Step

How to make it?

1

Prepare the ingredients

10 min

Rinse the quinoa thoroughly in plenty of water to remove its bitterness. Cut the pumpkin into small cubes.

2

Simmer until tender

20 min

Place the rinsed quinoa, pumpkin cubes, and water in a saucepan. Simmer over low heat for 20 minutes, until both are tender.

3

Blend the puree

5 min

Blend the mixture until smooth, then stir in the cinnamon.

4

Fill the molds

5 min

For the birthday celebration, pour the puree into small silicone molds. Serve some right away and freeze the rest if desired.

Reminder

If this is your baby’s first time trying these foods, introduce one ingredient at a time and wait 3 days before adding quinoa so you can watch for a possible allergic reaction.
