Thinly sliced beef liver is quickly sautéed in a sweet-and-savory sauce made with fresh ginger, soy sauce, and a small amount of sugar. Cooking with little oil and serving it with cabbage salad makes this a Japanese home-style dish described as low-calorie.

Step by Step

How to make it?

1

Rinse and Dry the Liver

10 min

Rinse the thinly sliced beef liver in cold water and pat it dry. Lightly coat it with flour.

2

Make the Sauce

5 min

Mix the grated ginger, soy sauce, and sugar in a small bowl.

3

Sauté the Liver

8 min

Quickly sauté the flour-coated slices in hot oil, leaving the center pink.

4

Add the Sauce

5 min

Add the prepared sauce to the pan and stir for 2 minutes, until the slices are glossy.

5

Serve with Cabbage

5 min

Serve the liver hot with finely shredded cabbage.

Reminder

Do not leave a thick coating of flour on the liver; a thin layer helps the sauce cling. Allergen: contains gluten (flour) and soy (soy sauce).
