Make the Strand Dough

Stretch the dough into thin strands on a buttered surface.
Bring the sugar, water, and saffron to a boil over medium heat and cook for 8 minutes.
Arrange layers of strand dough, walnuts, and syrup in a mold.
Bake in an oven preheated to 180°C / 355°F for 15–20 minutes, until the top is golden.
Let cool completely before slicing.
