A winter treat from Eastern Anatolia, snow halva is made by rubbing toasted semolina with confectioners’ sugar chilled in the freezer until ice-cold, until the mixture resembles snow. It melts quickly, so serve it immediately.

Step by Step

How to make it?

1

Toast the semolina

10 min

Toast the semolina in the butter until lightly golden, then let it cool completely.

2

Freeze the sugar

60 min

Chill the confectioners' sugar in a bowl in the freezer for at least 1 hour, until ice-cold.

3

Rub together

15 min

In a large bowl, rub the cooled semolina and ice-cold confectioners' sugar together between your palms until the mixture resembles snow. If the sugar is not cold enough, the mixture will stay sticky instead of turning powdery.

4

Serve

2 min

Spoon it onto plates and serve immediately; do not let it sit.

Reminder

If the confectioners' sugar is not cold enough, the mixture will become sticky dough instead of powder; keep it in the freezer until the last moment. Allergens: contains wheat (gluten) and dairy (butter).

Pudra şekerini tarifte yazdığı gibi 1 saat dondurmadım, 20 dakikada yeterli olur diye düşündüm ama karışım toz olmak yerine yapışkan bir hamura döndü. Süreyi kısaltmamak gerektiğini şimdi anlıyorum.
