This simple, tender pilaf gets its warm yellow color and mild aroma from turmeric toasted with the rice in butter. Its bright color and soft texture make it an easy fit for young children’s meals.

Step by Step

How to make it?

1

Toast the rice

5 min

Melt the butter, add the rinsed rice and turmeric, and toast briefly until the rice turns yellow.

2

Cook in the vegetable broth

15 min

Add the hot vegetable broth and salt. Cook over low heat until the liquid has been absorbed.

3

Let the pilaf rest

10 min

Remove the pot from the heat, cover the pilaf with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rest for 10 minutes. Fluff gently with a fork and serve.

Reminder

Important: Toast the turmeric briefly with the rice in butter, then add the liquid right away; if toasted too long, it can taste bitter. Allergen information: contains dairy (butter).
