This refreshing, chilled drink is made with strained watermelon juice, fresh mint and lemon juice, then served over ice. It keeps added sugar to a minimum and offers a practical option for kids who have trouble drinking water on hot summer days.

Step by Step

How to make it?

1

Blend the watermelon

5 min

Place the cubed watermelon in a blender and blend until smooth.

2

Strain the puree

5 min

Pour the watermelon puree through a fine-mesh sieve to remove seeds and pulp.

3

Add the mint and lemon

3 min

Add the lemon juice and gently bruised mint leaves to the strained watermelon juice, then thin it with water.

4

Serve over ice

2 min

Divide the drink among glasses with ice and serve right away.

Reminder

After blending the watermelon, strain it through a fine-mesh sieve to remove any seed pieces. Gently bruise the mint leaves rather than crushing them, which can make the drink taste bitter. Keep it refrigerated and drink it the same day; do not save it for the next day.
