A portion of thin whole-wheat crepe batter is mixed with cocoa and piped from a squeeze bottle to draw small animal faces; more of the yellow batter is poured over the top and cooked. Getting clean, symmetrical character designs takes careful batter consistency and timing. Children are more eager to sit down for breakfast when they see the faces on their plates.

Step by Step

How to make it?

1

Prepare the batter

10 min

Whisk the whole-wheat flour, milk, eggs, and salt until smooth. Add the melted butter and mix.

2

Split the batter into 2 portions and color part of it

5 min

Set aside a small portion of the batter, mix it with the cocoa powder, and transfer it to a squeeze bottle.

3

Draw the animal faces

6 min

Use the cocoa batter to draw small animal faces in a hot skillet and let them cook for a few seconds.

4

Cover and cook

6 min

Pour a thin layer of the yellow batter over the top, then flip and cook until both sides are done.

Reminder

Strain the cocoa batter before putting it in the squeeze bottle, or the tip may clog. After drawing the faces, do not wait more than 20 seconds before pouring the plain batter over them, or the lines may blur. Allergen: contains wheat (gluten), eggs, and dairy products.

Tam buğday unuyla yapılan hamur gerçekten pürüzsüz pişti, çocuklar kakaolu suratları görüp gülüşmekten tadını hiç sorgulamadı.

Kakaolu hamuru ilk denememde çok sulu yaptım, çizgiler birbirine karıştı; ikinci seferde bir yemek kaşığı daha un ekleyince yüzler net çıktı. Çocuğum tabağındaki ayı suratını görünce kahvaltıyı hiç sorun çıkarmadan bitirdi.
