Paximadia, the twice-baked tradition of the Greek islands, is made by putting leftover stale bread to good use instead of wasting it. Since it contains no dairy, it's a good fit if you're after a lactose-free snack.

Step by Step

How to make it?

1

Toss together

8 min

Thinly slice the stale bread and toss with olive oil, oregano, salt and garlic powder.

2

First bake

15 min

Arrange on a baking tray and bake in a preheated oven for 15 minutes.

3

Flip and continue

10 min

Flip the slices and bake for 10 more minutes.

4

Cool

10 min

Remove from the oven and let cool completely.

Reminder

Be sure to flip the slices after the first round, or the underside won't dry out enough. Allergens: contains wheat (gluten).
