The Pont-Neuf cut is cutting potatoes into thick sticks about 1.5x1.5x7 centimeters in size. It takes its name from the potatoes sold cut this way near the Pont Neuf bridge in Paris, and it forms the basis of the classic French-style thick fries. It is a thicker, larger cut than bâtonnet and allumette.
