Pisang goreng, a Malaysian street-food favorite, is made by coating bananas in a batter with shredded coconut and cooking them until crisp in an air fryer instead of deep-frying them. This easy snack takes only a few ingredients and minutes to prepare.

Step by Step

How to make it?

1

Prepare the batter

5 min

Mix the rice flour, granulated sugar, shredded coconut, and salt in a bowl. Gradually add the cold water to make a pourable batter.

2

Dip the bananas in the batter

3 min

Dip the halved bananas in the batter you prepared and let the excess drip off.

3

Cook in the air fryer

7 min

Arrange the bananas in the air-fryer basket and cook over medium heat until golden and crisp.

Reminder

Do not use overly ripe bananas, which may fall apart as they cook. When arranging the pieces in the air-fryer basket, make sure they do not touch or they may not crisp evenly.
