In Russia, grechnevaya kasha is one of the first grain meals given to babies. This quick porridge is made by cooking ground buckwheat flour with milk. Buckwheat’s iron content is an advantage for babies beginning complementary foods.

Step by Step

How to make it?

1

Mix the Buckwheat Flour

2 min

Stir the buckwheat flour into the cold water until smooth and free of lumps.

2

Cook with the Milk

6 min

Heat the milk on the stove. Add the buckwheat mixture and cook for 6 minutes, stirring constantly, until thickened.

3

Cool and Serve

2 min

Let the porridge cool for a few minutes until it is warm enough not to burn the baby’s mouth, then serve.

Reminder

Stir the porridge continuously after removing it from the heat, or lumps may form at the bottom of the pot. Allergen: milk and dairy products.
