Chak-chak is a festive Kazakh dessert often served to children. Small pieces of dough are fried, coated in warm honey, and pressed into a mold. It takes practice to shape them quickly before the honey sticks to the dough and firms up.

Heat the cooking oil over medium heat. Fry the dough pieces for 8 minutes, until golden, then lift them out with a slotted spoon and drain the excess oil.
Warm the honey gently over low heat and drizzle it over the fried dough. Stir quickly, press the mixture into a mold, and shape it.
Cut the dough into small, evenly sized pieces; larger pieces may remain raw inside after frying. Do not heat the honey too much, or boiling it can give it a bitter taste. Allergen: contains gluten (flour) and eggs.
