Soak the rice

Chao is a traditional Vietnamese baby food made by simmering rice in plenty of water until the grains soften and break down, then mixing it with boiled chicken breast. Its smooth texture makes it a gentle choice for babies starting solid foods.
Soak the rinsed rice in water for 30 minutes, then drain.
Put the rice and four 200 ml measures of water in a pot. Simmer over low heat, stirring constantly, for 25 minutes, until the grains soften and break down.
Add the shredded chicken breast and grated carrot, then cook for 5 more minutes.
Blend the porridge until it reaches a texture appropriate for your baby’s age, then serve.
Always test the porridge temperature before feeding it to your baby. Do not add salt or sugar before age 1.
