These mini Turkish cheese rolls, filled with Kashar cheese, are perfect for a family meal or a picnic basket. They use simple, budget-friendly ingredients and turn golden in the oven in a short time.
Combine the warm milk, yeast, and sugar, then let stand for 5 minutes until foamy.
Add the flour, egg, salt, and cooking oil, and knead into a soft, non-sticky dough.
Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for 15 minutes, until it has visibly increased in volume.
Pinch off small pieces of dough and fill them with grated Kashar cheese. Roll into balls and arrange on a parchment-lined baking pan.
Brush the tops with beaten egg yolk and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake in an oven preheated to 190°C / 375°F for 20 minutes, until golden on top.
Let the dough rise in a warm place away from drafts; otherwise, it may rise unevenly. Once cooled to room temperature, the Turkish cheese rolls will stay fresh in a sealed container for 2 days. Allergens: contains wheat (gluten), eggs, dairy, and sesame.
