Falooda is a classic Pakistani chilled dessert made by layering rose syrup, cold milk, and cooked thin vermicelli in a glass, then topping it with basil seeds and a scoop of ice cream. Prepare each ingredient separately and add them in order to keep the layers neat.

Step by Step

How to make it?

1

Soak the basil seeds

10 min

Put the basil seeds and half of a 200 ml measure of water in a bowl. Let stand for 10 minutes, until they become gel-like.

2

Boil the vermicelli

5 min

Boil the thin vermicelli in boiling water for 5 minutes, until tender. Drain and rinse with cold water.

3

Layer the glasses

8 min

Pour the rose syrup into the bottom of each glass. Add the vermicelli, then the cold milk and drained basil seeds, layering them in order.

4

Top with ice cream and serve

2 min

Add a scoop of vanilla ice cream and sprinkle with chopped pistachios. Serve right away.

Reminder

Transfer the vermicelli to cold water right after boiling it; otherwise, it will clump together. Allergen: contains milk and dairy products and tree nuts (pistachios). Check the product label for gluten in the vermicelli; ingredients can vary by product.
