Inspired by French onion tart, this recipe spreads slowly caramelized onions mixed with a light cream mixture over thinly rolled dough, then bakes it. Red pepper flakes add a little heat on top.

Step by Step

How to make it?

1

Prepare the dough

20 min

Dissolve the fresh yeast in warm water. Knead it with the flour and salt until smooth, then cover and let it rest for 20 minutes.

2

Caramelize the onions

20 min

Cook the thinly sliced onion in olive oil over low heat for 20 minutes, stirring often, until soft and golden.

3

Roll out the dough and add the topping

5 min

Roll the dough into a thin sheet and place it on a baking pan. Mix the caramelized onion with the cream and spread it evenly over the dough. Sprinkle with red pepper flakes.

4

Bake

12 min

Bake in an oven preheated to 220°C / 430°F for 12 minutes, until the edges are lightly browned.

Reminder

Important: if you rush the onions over high heat, they will burn and become bitter. They need at least 20 minutes to caramelize. Allergens: contains gluten (flour) and dairy (cream).
