Güllaç is a chilled dessert traditionally served at Ramadan iftar. Thin starch sheets soften in milk scented with rosewater, and the layers are topped with walnuts and pomegranate seeds. Its light, refreshing texture makes it a favorite after the fast.

Step by Step

How to make it?

1

Prepare the sweetened milk

8 min

Warm the milk and sugar in a saucepan without letting it boil, until the sugar dissolves. Remove from the heat and stir in the rosewater.

2

Soak the sheets

12 min

Dip the güllaç sheets one at a time in the warm milk mixture and arrange them in a wide dish. Drizzle a little more of the mixture between each layer.

3

Chill until set

120 min

Cover the dish and refrigerate for at least two hours, until the sheets have absorbed the milk.

4

Garnish and serve

5 min

Just before serving, sprinkle the top with chopped walnuts and, if desired, pomegranate seeds. Serve cold.

Reminder

Important: Dip the sheets one at a time in the warm milk so they do not stick together. Allergens: contains milk and dairy products and walnuts (tree nuts). The güllaç sheets may contain gluten because they are made with wheat starch. Store covered in the refrigerator for up to two days.

İlk denemede pişirme kabını yanlış seçtim, altı yapıştı. Hamur bir türlü toparlanmadı, un eklemek zorunda kaldım.

Kuruması muhtemelen fazla pişirmeden kaynaklanıyor, süreyi biraz kısaltmayı deneyin.
