Halushky is a quick Ukrainian home-style dish made by pinching small pieces of soft dough, boiling them, and tossing them with leftover cooked beef. The hardest part is pinching off pieces of the right size with a spoon.
Mix the flour, egg, water, and salt until you have a soft, slightly sticky dough.
Use a spoon to pinch off pieces about 1–2 cm across and drop them into salted boiling water. Cook until they rise to the surface.
Cook the chopped onion in butter until softened, then add the leftover cooked beef.
Drain the boiled dough pieces, add them to the pan, and toss with the cooked beef. Heat together for a few minutes.
If the pieces are too large, the centers may remain doughy; keep them no larger than hazelnuts. Allergens: wheat (gluten), eggs, and milk (butter).
Hamuru kaşıkla kaynar suya atarken ilk denemede çok büyük parçalar bıraktım, ortası hamur gibi kaldı; ikinci seferde 1-2 santim çapında bölünce içi tam piştim. Kavurmayı tereyağında biraz fazla kavurunca daha lezzetli oldu.
