Remove the chickpea skins
8 minRub the cooked chickpeas between your palms to remove their skins.
Adapted from Lebanon's classic chickpea dish hummus, this baby food is prepared without heat by blending cooked chickpeas with tahini and olive oil. Its simple recipe, with no added sweeteners or salt, makes it a suitable option for first solid foods.
Rub the cooked chickpeas between your palms to remove their skins.
Put the skinned chickpeas in a food processor with the tahini, olive oil and lemon juice.
Gradually add water and continue processing until the purée has a smooth consistency suitable for your baby's age.
Remove the chickpea skins before blending, or the purée will remain coarse and be harder for your baby to swallow. Allergens: contains sesame (tahini).
