A Jamaican street-food favorite, curried meat pastries are made by seasoning ground meat with curry powder, wrapping it in puff pastry, and baking or air frying until crisp. They make a hearty snack with a crisp exterior and spiced filling.

Step by Step

How to make it?

1

Make the Filling

12 min

Cook the garlic and onion in oil, then add the ground meat. Once it changes color, season with curry powder, thyme, red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper. Cook until the liquid evaporates, then sprinkle in the breadcrumbs to bind the filling.

2

Fill the Pastry

8 min

Cut the puff pastry into circles and place some filling on one half of each. Brush the edges with beaten egg, fold over, and press closed with a fork.

3

Cook

12 min

Arrange the pastries, brushed with egg, on parchment paper in the air fryer basket. Cook at 180°C / 355°F for 12 minutes, until golden. If you do not have an air fryer, bake in a preheated oven for the same amount of time.

Reminder

Do not crowd the pastries in the air fryer basket; without enough airflow, the bottoms may stay doughy. Allergens: Contains wheat (gluten) and egg.
