Pastries and dough-based dishes
This festive Kazakh pastry is made by layering thinly rolled dough with butter and frying it in hot oil. Creating distinct layers takes experience and skill.
Knead the flour, warm water, and salt into a smooth dough.
Roll the dough out thinly and spread it with butter. Fold it, roll it out again, and repeat this process three times.
Heat the sunflower oil and fry the pieces for twelve minutes, until golden on both sides.
Check the oil temperature; if it is too hot, the outside will burn while the layers remain raw inside. Allergens: contains gluten (flour) and dairy products (butter).
